Autotrader Provides Motorcycle History Reports Through New Partnership

Autotrader, an automobile and powersports retail marketplace, is partnering up with Cyclechex to provide motorcycle history reports on used vehicles on the majority of its dealer and private seller listings, the companies announced in a press release.

Cyclechex is a product offered by iMobile Solutions Inc., which provides comprehensive vehicle title history reports to consumers, dealers, and insurance companies. Autotrader will facilitate these reports through its platform called Motorcycles on Autotrader, which offers classifieds for new and used motorcycles.

“Working with Cyclechex, our motorcycle shoppers now have even more valuable information to help make an informed purchase decision,” Thomas Wadley, product manager for Motorcycles on Autotrader, said in the release. “Investing in a vehicle history report could make or break a purchase decision, helping prevent headaches down the road.”

Cyclechex Motorcycle History Reports include a variety of background information for consumers researching a particular bike. Through searching the VIN, users can see the motorcycle’s title brand history, vehicle specifications, whether an insurance company has listed the bike as a “total loss,” reports from vehicle recyclers who may have handled the motorcycle, access to the manufacturer’s recall history, and more.

The new partnership is meant to help put the consumer at ease when researching the motorcycle they’d like to buy. Tracking the history of the bike can be a challenge especially during private party transactions and a thorough report could alert the consumer if they are overcharged and it can aide dealers in determining the residual value.
